Meaningful Work for Body, Mind and Spirit

Help beautify and maintain the extensive gardens, temples and sacred art of Odiyan Retreat Center on 1000 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean in rural northern California. Work in our four vegetable gardens, seven orchards or out on the land. Includes housing, vegetarian meals, classes and small monthly living allowance. 

We are currently seeking individuals aged  25-50 who are physically competent and able to  handle tools, small machinery and manual labor on a daily basis. You will be engaging  gardening, farming, landscaping, cooking, construction, concrete, masonry. sacred art fabrication, foundry work, and repairs of every kind.

Volunteering at Odiyan includes housing, meals, living allowance, classes.

  • Housing with one roommate,  Vegetarian meals, Living allowance $150 per month
  • Skill training in wide range of trades and traditional arts
  • Classes on Inner development of mind and spirit, Tibetan yoga and more!

You contribute: your Time and Energy!

Learn new skills and share your knowledge while making a valuable contribution to the preservation of enlightened knowledge for all humanity.

The Odiyan way of life integrates creative and challenging work with a path of self-exploration that opens up your inner potential. No special skills or religious affiliation required.

Previous experience is preferred, but not required. You must have passion for a hard working wholesome lifestyle of service.

Although Odiyan has its foundations in Tibetan Buddhism, no religious affiliation is required to join our team. We are seeking volunteers who are open-minded, self-reflective and ready to engage deeply on both inner and outer levels.

Minimum six month commitment.

PLEASE NOTE We welcome volunteers from around the world; however please be aware that if you do not hold a United States passport or green card we cannot by law assist you in obtaining a visa for entry, visiting or residing in the United States. We cannot issue any letters of invitation or confirmation for volunteering at Odiyan.
