Nackunga Community is an intentional community for families and adults living and working together, developing the community and creating outwardgoing projects. We believe a sustainable lifestyle, promoting inner growth and outer change, works as an example and source of inspiration for others.
The Syrian Initiative Craftsmanship Ecovillage (SICE) is a newly formed NGO (April 1st 2015) driven by a group of Syrian refugees and Swedes in Uppsala, Sweden. Our aim is to empower migrants and other Syrians to take control of their own lives, integrate into Swedish society, and do so in an inexpensive and ecologically sustainable way. We also find different ways to job possibilities for our residents in our Ecovillage.
There were big ambitions to create a working ecovillage in the beginning, but through different technical problems, (for exampel with toilets), and reduced interest, the village has evolved into a "ordinary" housing area. The village can be a interesting case, as their experiences can teach what "not" to do:)
A small ecovillage, Has had IAL-camps and workingcamps.
11 members, 4 houses.
Built by residents.
They have an extensive ongoing permaculture project in collaboration with the nearby ecovillage-initiative Hällmarken and the area Hällskogen. Gardens, houses and infrastructure will be re-planned after permaculture principles. The projects will take part in the transition-towns movement.
Per told me that theres a big interest in Sweden for a touristroad. The model that Håga used while building, influencing the company JM byggnad improving their capacity in eco-technology, is interesting. - Habitat 2- an UN-model that could be applied on the project ECOVILLAGES (for communication)
The village are very interesting according to sewage systems and ecological farming. The contact person is an organic farmer. The village has a long history and has transformed into an ecovillage. They have "roots" in the traditional landscape/culture wich gives a lot of strenght.
A very strong and good source for sustainable building techniques. The contact person dedicate his time to this topic, and has missions in Bhutan among others. Many students and technically interested visit the village. Apart from that they keep animals, gardens, a sawmill, and a port for boats.
The roof construction mainly on the backyard is very good. Can be recomended to other projects. The dry toilett solution which is refurbished by a normal water toilett system today was a more idealistic idea.
A village that started with an interest for sound materials and a healthy lifestyle, and was thereafter named an "ecovillage" in an article. The social life works good in the village, people are good in helpeing eachother out.
The idea was formed by Ove Thörnqvist 1989-90. The contact person Olof has been involved since that time. He knows a lot about building-technologies. The other contactperson knows other parts of the village, wich can be a good complement.
A group of friends that met in India decide to create their own village in Europe.
Julie from Belgium is Holistic healer / Kine , her husband Shan from India is a founder of a organic jus company.
And me, Lima I am eco-project manager with eco-construction as a speciality.
So here we are, the small presentation of the team.

We are a small EcoVillage on a farm south of Stockholm Sweden. Formed as a building association
we have six families living on the farm. Separate is a Kindergarten open for the larger community.
At the farm we have sheep, hens and horses.
We deploy energy saving technique, wastewater management as well as solar cells and panels.
The farm is situated close to Järna anthroposofic communities, itself on of the major alternative societies in Scandinavia.
Members are also active in the Swedish Transition movement.
