Trudy Juriansz

Trudy currently coleads Belipola Forest Gardens in Sri Lanka, the first Analog Forest site in the world. Belipola is also a sustainability education center, and distributes organic products as part of a social enterprise initiative under the label “Uva Forest Garden Products”. For nine years, Trudy has worked in different parts of Asia, focusing on alternative education, ecovillage design and permaculture, mainly by supporting grassroots youth movements and rural women. Trudy facilitated the founding of the NextGEN movement in Sri Lanka two years ago, and is currently the Sri Lankan national representative. Additionally, through the Center for Peacebuilding and Reconciliation (CPBR), Trudy is working on a project that supports women from diverse ethnic and religious groups from around Sri Lanka by using home gardens as a means for social reconciliation. She is on the board of the International Analog Forestry Network (IAFN) and on the Vision Council for the Global Ecovillage Network Oceania & Asia (GENOA). Trudy believes in deep ecology, natural medicine, community living, cultural expression, and experiential learning. She is an Analog Forestry trainer, a trained and practicing permaculturalist and yoga teacher, and a student of herbal healing.
